Zzp’ers hebben minder vaak last van een burn-out

Zzp’ers ervaren minder werkdruk en hebben minder vaak burn-outklachten dan werknemers. Dat blijkt uit een studie van onderzoeksbureau TNO en het CBS.

Ruim 7 procent van de zelfstandigen zonder personeel voelt zich ten minste enkele keren per maand opgebrand door het werk. Onder werknemers is dat ruim twee keer zo veel.

Zzp’ers draaien gemiddeld wel meer uren: zo’n 36 per week tegen 30 uur voor werknemers. Zelfstandige ondernemers hebben wel meer mogelijkheden om zelf hun tijd in te delen.

Meer bevlogenheid
Verder blijkt dat de ondernemers over het algemeen meer bevlogen zijn in hun werkzaamheden. Bijna 75 procent van hen zegt regelmatig helemaal op te gaan in hun werk; van de werknemers is dat ruim 60 procent.

Zelfstandigen voelen zich doorgaans ook fitter en sterker tijdens het werk. En ze vinden hun baan over het algemeen wat gevarieerder dan mensen die in loondienst zijn.

Fysiek zwaar
Tegenover dit alles staat dat zzp’ers wel vaker zeggen dat ze niet gemakkelijk kunnen voldoen aan de fysieke eisen die hun werk aan hen stelt. Deze zwaardere fysieke belasting geldt vooral voor zelfstandigen in de (land)bouw en de industrie.

TNO en het CBS baseren hun conclusies op onderzoek onder een kleine 5000 zelfstandigen en bijna 38.000 werknemers. In de studie zijn ook zzp’ers meegenomen die niet geheel naar eigen keuze zelfstandige zijn geworden, bijvoorbeeld omdat ze bij hun vorige werkgever werden ontslagen en geen andere nieuwe baan konden vinden.
